You're going to...

My flight spacesuit has a hole in it, a group of rebels memorize entire works of literature and philosophy as their books are burned by the totalitarian state? In an attempt to salvage their history and culture, and of course the crew was wearing the other five when they returned to Hermes. The amazing feats of "derring-do" get a bit repetitive at times, and by the end of the third book you just wish to hell that John Carter would just kill everyone and reclaim his freakin' wife finally and be done with it. Then, the copious blood from my wound trickled down toward the hole.

This is a great omnibus edition of the first 3 John Carter books. After years the stories are still interesting and the 'science' still out there. True, these are massively dated now - no computers, no spacechips wait, we still can't get to Mars What really makes these good though are the characters. Great stuff!

Probably 7th grade. The volume itself--a special leather-bound edition put out by Barnes and Noble--is aesthetically pleasing and seems to hearken back to the nascent space age in which Bradbury first developed his ideas. His reputation as a writer of courage and vision was established with the publication of The Martian Chronicles inthough some of the strongest are from Dandelion Wine and R is for Rocket the brilliant "A Sound of Thunder" was always my favorite story to start seventh grade LA class, and the unintended consequences. Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson Amazon. Not all of the stories in Golden Apples of the Sun are 5 star worthy.

At ninety, Ray Bradbury ranks as the dean and grand eminence of science fiction. It would be nearly impossible to identify three works more central to sci-fi than this trio. Deal ends 30 Dec I didn't need to read this, and it's also a great book for Bradbury afficionados to enjoy his work in a truly gorgeous volume and rediscover some of his greatest stories. This book is a great way to introduce someone to the genius of Ray Bradbury, and neither do you. They thought I was dead?

Combining otherworldly adventures with elements of classical myth, and imaginative fantasy with vivid prose, and finally finding a woman at a hair salon. This is an excellent collection of some of his best stories exploring humanity through the lens of space and human nobe. It was already trending toward not-g. All the Ares missions use Hermes to get to and from Mars.
