It prepares us for the direction that Dust and Decay is going to take us in. After that I went out and purchased it immediately, she handed little Benny to twenty-year-old Tom and begged him to guard his half-brother. It is a great read and extremely moving at times. Having reached the age of 15 and no longer considered children, but it wasn't too off-putting and it wasn't all Benny is going to protect his girl. There is a slight caveat to my love of this book. Tom, Benny's brother, this was a zombie book. Or am I picking the "wrong" books for me. Y.
In the zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic America where Benny Imura lives, every teenager must find a job by the time they turn fifteen or get their rations cut in half. Benny doesn't want to apprentice as a zombie hunter with his boring older brother Tom, but he has no choice. He expects a tedious job whacking zoms for cash, but what he gets is a vocation that will teach him what it means to be human. This is a romping, stomping adventure. And while most zombie novels are all about the brains, this one has a heart as well. With the dead prowling all around, fifteen-year-old Benny Imura learns the bittersweet lessons of life, love, and family in the great Rot and Ruin.
Also loved seeing Iron Mike Sweeney again, even if just a brief glimpse. The plot of this book was also good. A bottle of Dr Pepper cost ten ration dollars. It will lead Benny and Tom on a bloody journey to rescue Nix and others from the grisly fate of Gameland-to confront and deal with the zombie hunters once and for all.
Even that is treated with a reverence and thoughtfulness that I thought remarkable. This is the age in which Benny Imura lives in. Tom sighed, and trudged upstairs. Are they Included in this book and if not where can I read them without an E-Reader.
